OBP certifications

What are the OBP certifications?

OCEAN BOUND PLASTIC CERTIFICATIONS are available for Organizations wishing to have an approved third party certify their activity related to Ocean Bound Plastic (OBP).

The scheme is composed of two subprograms; the Ocean Bound Plastic Recycling Subprogram, and the Ocean Bound Plastic Neutrality Subprogram.

The Ocean Bound Plastic Recycling SubprogramĀ covers the sell and recycling of recyclable OBP, it is composed of two standards:

  • A first Standard is available to certify Organizations engaged in the collection of Ocean Bound Plastic before it reaches Oceans so they can provide Certified OBP.
  • A second Standard is available to certify organization trading, transforming and recycling Ocean Bound Plastic or organization making final products or packaging with recycled OBP.

The Ocean Bound Plastic Neutrality SubprogramĀ covers the elimination of non-recyclable OBP from the environment in order to compensate a plastic foot print. It is composed of two standards:

  • A first Standard is available to certify Organizations engaged in the collection and neutralization (disposal or valorization) of Ocean Bound Plastic before it reaches Oceans so they can provide emit and sell Neutralization Certificates.
  • A second Standard is available to certify environmentally conscious organizations that want to compensate their plastic footprint by purchasing Neutralization Certificates and product OBP Neutral Products.
