Preventing Plastic Waste Before It Reaches the Ocean
Plastic pollution begins long before it reaches the sea. Large volumes of abandoned plastic sit near waterways and coastal communities — where they are at high risk of entering the ocean.

The Challenge
Most ocean-bound plastic has little or no commercial value. As a result, it is rarely collected or recycled. This drives marine pollution and leaves waste workers without safe, stable, or fairly compensated work.

Our Goal
To stop ocean pollution at the source by making Ocean Bound Plastic (OBP) collection, recycling, and treatment traceable, transparent, and valued across global supply chains.

How the Certification Works
The OBP Certification Program establishes trusted standards and third-party verification so organizations can act — and prove their impact.
This includes:
– Certified collection in high-risk leakage areas
– Responsible recycling or treatment of OBP
– Independent audits and public registry tracking
– Verified OBP credits for non-recyclable plastic
All activities are independently audited and publicly registered.

Supporting Social Impact
An optional Social+ OBP component strengthens working conditions for informal waste collectors and helps integrate marginalized individuals into safer, more equitable supply chains.

What the Program Delivers
Through certified OBP processes, the program enables:
– Traceable plastic collection and processing
– Credible recycled OBP and plastic neutrality claims
– Market demand for responsible plastic action
– Improved conditions for waste-picking communities

Long-Term Impact
By giving OBP verified value and transparent pathways, the OBP Certification Program helps reduce plastic leakage into oceans, strengthen circular plastic value chains, and improve social outcomes worldwide.

Prevent Plastic Waste. Protect Oceans. Create Impact.
OBP Certification turns prevention into verified, scalable action.
